Kingdom Animalia Animals are complex, multicellular organisms. They move about, have a nervous system. They do not have cell walls like plants. Animal cells have a nucleus. Animals cannot produce their own food.
Kingdom Plantae Plants are complex, multicellular organisms. The are usually green and use the sun's energy to produce their own food (sugar) in a process called photosynthesis. Plant cells have a cell wall, chloroplasts and a nucleus.
Kingdom Fungi Fungi are complex multicellular organims. They do not produce their own food, like plants. Fungi cells have a cell wall like plants. Fungi get their nutrients from breaking down other substances.
Kingdom Protista Protists are single cell (unicellular) or simple multicellular organisms. They are different from bacteria, because they are eukaryotes. Eukaryotes have a nucleus.
Kindom Archaebacteria Archaebacteria are extremely small single celled organisms (unicellular). They are prokaryotes. They do not have a nucleus. Archaebacteria are found in extremely harsh environments, like hot springs and underwater volcanoes.
Kingdom Eubacteria Single celled organisms (unicellular) prokaryote (no nucleus). Eubacteria live in soil, water and in animals. They help to provide homeostasis (balance) in complex organisms. Some eubacterias can cause infections, while others turn milk to yogurt.
